ABOUT THE SCHOOL
St. Gabriel’s Higher Secondary School, Upper Shillong is a Catholic Church Educational institution administered by St. Paul’s Parish Upper Shillong and assisted by the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel. The legal holder of this institution is the Archdiocese of Shillong.
St. Gabriel’s Higher Secondary School is a co-ed institution for day scholars. The school was established in the year 1962 with around 2000 students on roll from Nursery to Class XII. The Primary section is privately managed while Classes VI to XII Arts stream is government aided under deficit grand in aid. The Science Stream and Commerce stream however is privately managed by the Church itself. The school had imparted education to thousands of students who had benefitted from its service and contribution. It fosters academic excellence, creativity and value oriented learning. It also focuses in the all-round development of its students.

The school life of a student does not end with securing marks and certificates, but it is a continuous process of learning to improve oneself for a better tomorrow. It takes many years to reach the goal set before oneself. The journey of learning can be a joyful one or tedious one based on each one’s personal effort. Right decision is an important aspect of life to have a bright future. Any decision made can either enlighten the spirit of learning or hinder the desired growth. Student’s life and learning entails self-sacrifice, hard work and perseverance. Great persons of different ages and eras had undergone a lot of struggles but they never gave up.The spirit of resilience determines the future life of a student.
The present day’s education has evolved with lots of changes and challenges. It is not sufficient to have only an intellectual knowledge or the understanding of the lessons learnt. The other aspects of life, like respect for others, care for nature and live a good moral and well balance life is quite important in today’s scenario. With the help of our selfless and dedicated teachers, our school wishes to leave a great impact in the life of all the students which is worth remembering in the future.
